Town of New Haven
February 1, 2012


The monthly board meeting of the Town of New Haven was called to order by Chairman, Roger Hanson, at the New Haven Town Hall at 7:05 pm on Wednesday, February 1, 2012.

Chairman Hanson led those in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll Call showed Hanson, Prestrud, Siniff, Wold and Duerst present. Many townspeople were also in attendance.

Motion by Prestrud, second by Siniff, to accept the January 4, 2012, Board Meeting minutes as distributed. Carried.

The Treasurer gave the Treasurer’s Report:

Checking $ 30,006.22
Savings $248,814.27
LGIP $ 3,100.12

Motion by Siniff to approve the Treasurer’s Report, second by Prestrud. Carried.

Patrolman’s Report
Alvin gave a report on the freezing and thawing and how it was affecting the roads. He said the sand pile is going down and he needs to get more. He also said the parking brake on the grader needs to be repaired.

None.

New Business
Hanson announced there would be a Cemetery Board Meeting on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Kistner’s Korner.

Motion by Hanson, second by Prestrud, to approve an Operator’s License for serving alcohol for Penny Miller. Carried.

The Boyceville Sno-Jammer’s Snowmobile Club requested permission to change the date of their event from February 4, 2012, in the event there was not enough snow, to the next available date that had snow. Motion by Hanson, second by Prestrud, to allow the date to be changed and for the picnic license to be good for the new date also if needed due to the snow situation. Carried.

Scott McCurdy introduced himself to the Board and the townspeople. He is a certified geologist with Cedar Corporation in Menomonie, WI. He gave an informative presentation about non metallic mining and the various kinds of sands that companies are looking for when they are doing mining. He had a question and answer period after the presentation.

Hanson discussed the new fire and ambulance district agreements that the Village of Boyceville is in the process of writing up. All the equipment is currently owned by the Village of Boyceville and paid for by the various towns. The Village attorney is rewriting it and it should be ready to make a decision by May 1st. Town representatives have been meeting with the Village regarding this.

The Plan Commission report was given by Plan Commission Chairman Paul Danovsky. He said they will be having a meeting on February 22, 2012 at 7:00 pm at which time they will be reviewing the Town of Howard ordinance. Roger told the Plan Commission to let him know when they would like the Town’s attorney to be at one of their meetings. It was mentioned that Dunn County also passed a 6 month moratorium against non-metallic mining. Scott McCurdy volunteered to attend the Plan Commission and assist the members if they desired.

Motion by Hanson, second by Siniff, to approve a field driveway permit for Wayne Tronrud. Carried.

Public Input
None.

The board approved the bills for payment.

The next board meeting is March 7, 2012 at 7:00 pm. Hanson said we might have a speaker from Dunn County Zoning at that meeting.

Motion to adjourn at 8:40 pm by Prestrud, second by Siniff. Carried.
